The airplane is woven from wooden beads, ordered in a tight grid like the rows of an abacus. Held that way, the beads swell forward into a soft relief, so something plain and countable turns into a clean, geometric shape. Underneath, jute rope is wound into the background in two colours and laid out in long, modern curves. The two surfaces are set against each other: the rough, matte winding of the jute and the smooth, rounded beads, both of them natural materials in pastel earth tones. Nothing competes for colour, so what is left is texture and form, a handmade surface carrying a modern shape.
