The inspiration is hard to miss: the street art of Banksy and his world-famous girl with the red balloon. Here the balloon is a paper airplane. The background is hand-cast concrete, raw and urban, and on it, stencilled with a spray can, the little girl, caught in the moment she lets the airplane go. The airplane is folded from thick red cardboard and glows against the grey ground. What carries the piece is the contrast: the hard, heavy world of concrete against the lightness of a single red airplane about to fly away.
